Music & Me

Hello! My name is Madison Cole and I am a freshman at Converse University. I have grown up  around music, specifically, country music. My great-grandfather went to Nashville to sign a record deal. He had his own band and even helped one music star, get his "start," Aaron Tippin. My uncle was a drummer for Reba McEntire, Brooks and Dunn and a few more up until he passed away. I am from Woodruff, South Carolina and still continue to live, and plan on living in South Carolina for the rest of my life. Yes, I love it that much :)

Current Go-To: One example of music that I am really into right now, is older country, specifically Conway Twitty. I just really love his story-teller voice and his style of music. Each of his songs have great rhythm's and beats. It is a joy to listen to. This is one of my favorites, check it out!

Meaningful: One example of music that is personally meaningful is a country music artist, Gary Allan. More specifically his song, "Life Ain't Always Beautiful." It has much a meaningful story about how life is short and how you should never take it for granted. You never know when you will experience your lasts. Always live in the moment and soak it all in. Make the memories and spend time with the ones who love because tomorrow is never promised. Life is real and raw. Time is precious so don't waste it! This song is important to me because I have lost many of my immediate family members at a very young age in life, very unexpectedly. It is tough, but you have to make the best of what you have and where you are at in that given season. You also have to remind yourself that things do get better and everything does not always last forever. Make the most of what you have, while you have it. "Life Ain't Always Beautiful." Give it a listen, I hope this song makes as much of an impact on you, as it has on me!

Non-connection: One example of music that I don't have a connection to or understand is Opera. I know it is important and meaningful to some, however, it does not resonate with me in my personal life. I do not have a specific opera song that I do not connect with, as it is the opera music genre as a whole. I am not a big "theater kid" and that is ok! I've just never really been interested in theater, plays, etc. Nor, am I a big fan of dramatic orchestra. The opera genre's distinct, wildly and emotionally expressive solos, duets and/or trios are just not my jam. Take a look at this example!
